Fundchange and TELUS Announce Spring Matching Program at Vancouver, Victoria, Calgary Workshops

New projects posted by Western based charities and non-profits that get fully funded on Fundchange.com in May could be eligible for up to $5,000 in matching funds each

Calgary, AB – Fundchange (www.fundchange.com), one of Canada’s first “crowdfunding” or online fundraising websites for Canadian charities, today announced a Spring Matching Campaign with sponsor TELUS as part of its spring workshops in Western Canada.

Fundchange held workshops with partners Koodo and TELUS in Vancouver on April 18th and in Victoria on the 20th, and will be holding one in Calgary on April 25th. Details of the Calgary workshop can be found here: http://calgaryfundchange1.eventbrite.ca/

The Matching program will see TELUS match funding to a total of $10,000 – a maximum of $5,000 each for two (or more) new projects posted and fully funded on Fundchange in the month of May. Projects must be from BC/Alberta/Saskatchewan/Manitoba registered charities, and have a minimum of 10 donors.

“The matching campaigns with partner TELUS are a terrific way for charities to get started with crowdfunding and tuning their social media skills to build and mobilize their crowd. Using our platform, they could be rewarded by being one of the first two to have their project fully funded in the month of May” according to Paul Dombowsky, founder of Fundchange.

Fundchange gives the public the opportunity to support projects in different ways: voting, liking on Facebook, Tweeting, commenting, emailing, and of course, funding. According to Dombowsky, “Organizations such as LiveWorkPlay, The Toronto City Mission, Pick My Class, Calgary’s Brown Bagging for Kids and others are using crowdfunding on Fundchange with social media to mobilize support from people connected to them directly or through many degrees of separation through their social networks. All focused on funding change one project at a time.

“With Fundchange, Pick My Class has raised funds to develop a web platform that will connect inspiring public school teachers to donors, to enhance their student's classroom experience,” said Pick My Class founder Andrew Spinner. “Fundchange is a wonderful program which has assisted us in sourcing funds, and has been integral to Pick My Class' development”.

Fundchange recently released its end of year one results with an info graphic that tells the story of the $105,000 they raised and the influence of social media on the site for Canadian charities. Visit www.fundchange.com to view the info graphic.
